Kifid
The Financial Services Complaints Institute (Kifid) is intended to offer you, the consumer, a single point of contact for the resolution of (impending) conflicts with financial service providers and for information about financial matters. You can think of the product groups investments, insurance, mortgages, loans, other banking products and mixed products.
You can always go to court in the event of a conflict, but the Ombudsman and Disputes Committee working within Kifid can offer you an alternative: in a relatively short period of time (litigation often takes years), in consultation with the financial service provider involved, an attempt is made to find a solution or a ruling is given on the issue.
Kifid is funded by a foundation of the same name established by the aforementioned industry associations (see initiators). These, incidentally, have no influence or authority regarding the manner in which a case is handled. Moreover, the independence of the Ombudsman and the Disputes Committee is guaranteed by their regulations and the manner of their appointment.
