HIN number

HIN number

The HIN number (Hull Identification Number), is the "chassis number" of the vessel. Vessels built after June 1998 come with this number by default. Typically, the HIN number can be found on or around the transom of your vessel.

It may happen that your vessel does not have a unique HIN number often the reason is that your vessel was manufactured before June 1998. If your vessel does not have a HIN number check to see if your vessel has a hull or serial number.

HIN number interpretation
NL - Country of production
ZZZ - Unique code of the yard that built the hull
12345 - Serial number
A - Month of production (A January to L December)
5 - Year of production
05 - Model year

Boten <20 pk of zonder motor

Below is an overview of the boats with a less than 20 hp engine or without engine. Alpina insurance is also available for Boat Insurance for these boats.

Open boat

An open boat means a boat without an enclosure and with a trailer motor up to 20 hp or motorless. For example, you can think of an open fishing boat.

Rubber Boats

Rubber boats are defined as all boats that have a rubber base. The attainable speed of the dinghy does not play a role in calculating the premium.

Motorboats

Below is a list of the different motorboats for which VerzekerVoordelig.nl offers boat insurance.

Catamaran open / closed

A catamaran is a vessel consisting of two floating sections mounted parallel to each other above the waterline through a light center section. Catamarans are stable vessels with relatively low drag, allowing great speeds to be achieved. Open catamarans do not have an enclosure, closed catamarans do.

Kayak speedboat

A cabin speedboat is a motorboat equipped with a cabin with a gasoline engine of more than 50 hp. In addition, the boat must have fixed berths and cooking facilities for it to be called a cabin speedboat.

Motor cruiser

Motor cruiser means all cabin motorboats that have an inboard engine without stern drive. When cabin motorboats do have a stern drive or an inboard gasoline engine over 50 hp, the cabin cruiser rate is charged by the insurer.

Multihulls

A multihull is a more luxurious version of the catamaran. The multihull consists of several "hulls," or hulls. These hulls run vertically parallel to each other. Multihulls are often equipped with comfortable sleeping quarters.

Open speedboat

An open speedboat includes boats with an outboard motor over 25 hp or stern drive and open boats with a built-in gasoline engine over 50 hp.

Sloop / Vlet

A sloop is defined as a cross between a small barge and a skiff (one-person rowboat). A vlet is a small vessel made of steel that is very similar to a sloop, but instead of a straight and vertical bow it has a sloping bow. Sloops and vlets are true recreational boats, they usually do not achieve high speeds but are mainly used for relaxing boating trips.

Speed cruiser

A speed cruiser is a covered vessel that allows a longer stay on the water. Speed cruisers are therefore equipped with sleeping quarters, a washroom and cooking facilities. Speed cruisers reach average speeds of 44 km / per hour.

Tour boat open / closed

A touring boat can be open or closed. A tour boat is made for touring longer distances at a steady speed. Most tour boats have a cabin with sleeping quarters.

Vessels in major cities

If you own a boat in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht or The Hague, there are a number of Boat Insurance issues to consider.

Why in the big cities?

In large cities, boat owners have less visibility of their craft. For example, because the canals in Amsterdam are not directly adjacent to houses, it is more difficult for a boat owner to keep an eye on his/her boat. Therefore, in large cities, you face a so-called increased risk.

Because of this increased risk, insurers have decided to no longer offer WA Limited Casco or WA Casco to boat owners in large cities. However, you can take the WA Boat Insurance, which covers the liability of the owner and driver of the boat for damages inflicted to third parties.

Exceptions

  • Boats that are moored in a guarded marina in the city do qualify for third-party limited hull boat insurance or third-party limited hull boat insurance.
  • Boat owners who have a mooring directly at home can also choose the Limited Comprehensive and Comprehensive Boat Insurance. However, strict attention must be paid to the fact that the berth is located directly on the house, for example in front of the door, or on the garden which is directly on the water. There should be no road between the house and the berth (as is the case with canal houses).

Sailboats and yachts

Below you will find an overview of the different sailboats and (sailing) yachts for which VerzekerVoordelig.nl offers boat insurances. With the descriptions you can easily read where your vessel falls under.

Cabin Sailboat

A cabin sailboat is a sailboat equipped with a cabin. You can find cabin sailboats in different sizes and with one or more sailing masts.

Cabin sailing yacht

A cabin sailing yacht means a yacht with a sail and a cabin. A yacht means a ship or vessel intended for recreation, equipped with a large, luxurious cabin or pavilion (aft cabin).

Classic sailing yacht

A classic sailing yacht is a luxurious ship equipped with sails. Classic sailing yachts are labeled as classic because they are powered only by wind power and do not include other propulsion methods.

Motor sailor

Motor sailors are sailing boats equipped with powerful engines. Due to the sail / engine combination, they can achieve great speeds. These motor sailors are therefore often used for sailing competitions.

Open sailboat

Open sailboats are sailboats without an enclosure. You will find in this category open sailboats with only sails and open sailboats equipped with a trailer motor.
