Transferring a moped

Transferring a moped or scooter is important for both the buyer and the seller. The buyer then officially becomes the owner and becomes responsible for fines and damages.

For the seller, it is proof that he is no longer liable. It also updates the vehicle's data in the registry. Thus, everything is clearly arranged.

Don't have a license yet but already have a moped? You can't ride it yet but you can put the moped in your name.

Moped transfer at license plate counter or RDW inspection station

You also receive the release certificate. You give the release certificate to the seller.
Step 6
From then on, you are liable for the obligations of a license plate holder. For example, you must take out moped insurance. You are required by law to have at least third-party insurance for your moped.
Step 7

From the RDW you will receive the new license plate card the same business day (if the license plate is transferred before 4 p.m.) or the next business day.

Congratulations!!! You are now the new owner of the moped.

Clearance certificate

When you transfer, the moped's registration number is transferred to the new owner's name. You will then receive a certificate of indemnification. This certificate is for the seller of the moped.

This allows the seller to show that the license plate of the sold moped is no longer in his or her name. Therefore, the seller is no longer responsible for the obligations of a license plate holder.
