When can I report damage via mobile?

In a collision, you and the other party fill out a European claim form. These days it can be much simpler. Mobile claim reporting works faster and is simpler.

The damage app is the replacement for the paper European damage form. The general public still needs to get used to it, but in time, road users won't know any different.

Mobile claim reporting - When do you use the app?

In case of traffic damage, the insurer expects a claim notification from you. A matter of filling out the European claim form together with the other party, and the insurers fight out among themselves who is liable. You can use mobile claim reporting with the app in the same situations. The most common claim report is about motor vehicles that have driven into each other. But it can also be a collision between a motor vehicle and a bicyclist or pedestrian. One of the parties involved can report the damage via the app on his or her phone. The insurers involved are automatically notified. The other party receives a copy of what has been completed.

You can use the app under the following conditions:

  • There are only two people involved in the accident
  • Both involved must carry a cell phone
  • No motor vehicles with foreign license plates are involved

How does mobile claim reporting work?

It is so simple that you don't actually need to practice it beforehand. The questioning will guide you through the claims process. Some important facts we like to give you.

Add photos first

Insurers need to be able to get a picture of the claim situation. When reporting damage on the mobile, you can add four photos to the report. Take them from different positions. This can be important in later issues about who is liable for the damage.

Are there any witnesses?

If bystanders witnessed the accident, you can add the details of these witness(es) to the claim report. They can be heard in case of doubt about who is liable, or to clarify more about the situation at the accident.

What type of accident?

In mobile claim reporting, the type of accident is first understood. For example, it is a collision. The Mobile Damage Reporting app can also be used in the case of windshield damage without a counterparty present.

Enter your own data

In the app, you first enter your own information, such as name, address and your license plate number. The phone number is your cell phone number. This is used to confirm the report later. After entering your own data, explain where you were standing with the car.

Should I report information about the collision?

The app asks questions about the collision and how it could have happened. For example, you indicate that you were driving straight on a right of way. With the answers to the questions asked, insurers can form a picture of how the collision occurred. With your car damage claim, you also indicate which part of the car was the first contact with the other party. From this kind of data, information can be extracted about the circumstances of the damage.

Counterparty information

Now it is the other party's turn to enter information. You can just do this on your phone. It is also still the same notification.

Where did the accident take place?

The next step is to provide the location of the accident. Your phone itself may already provide the location where you are currently standing with your mobile. If that is not the case or if the damage location is different, you can enter the address in the app.

Summary of notification

All information collected during the mobile damage report is summarized by the app for review. Changes can be made if necessary. If everything is correct, you can confirm the report. In the next step, both of you can indicate whether you agree with the report. If so, you will receive a code on your cell phone. You can enter this code in the app. If either of you is not in agreement, no code will follow. The claim report will be forwarded to your insurers.

Schade app

The damage app makes reporting car damage a lot easier. Normally you and the other party fill out the European claim form, but reporting damage through the app is faster and less prone to error. Insurers often find that the European claim form is filled out incorrectly or incompletely. This also causes the claim to take longer to settle. If you use the damage app, this can hardly occur, because when going through the questions the app indicates if you forget to fill something in.

European claim form app

Instead of filling out the European claim form, you can use the app. The European claim form can be used for any claim. So not all questions will apply to you. Filling it out takes a little more time because you have to go through all the questions to figure out which ones to fill out. With the mobile app, it goes a lot faster because the questions are tailored to your situation. Moreover, after completing all the questions, you can send the claim directly to the insurer, so the claim can also be handled quickly.

Damage report app

A large proportion of motorists do not carry a European claim form in their car. However, the majority do have their phone with them by default. You don't even need to have the app on your phone beforehand; you can download it on the spot. Reporting damage through the app is much easier than using a damage form. Moreover, the damage app also allows you to add photos of the damage so that they become part of the damage report. The other party cannot question the photos afterwards.
