How many claim-free years do I have?

To compare or purchase car insurance, you need to know how many claim-free years you have accumulated. Claims-free years are built up when there is a car insurance policy in your name. The more claim-free years you have, the more discount you get on the premium. Not sure how many claim-free years you have? Then you can look this up in Roy Data. Looking up claim-free years in Roy Data

Claim-free years are registered in Roy Data. This is the central database of the EPS Foundation (Efficient Processes Claims Insurers). After terminating your insurance, the insurer registers your accumulated claim-free years in Roy Data. When you take out a new car insurance policy, the new insurer consults the Roy Data database to see how many claim-free years you have. You used to have to prove claim-free with a paper cancellation statement, but Roy Data no longer requires that.

Your data in Roy Data is accessible to both insurers and yourself. Do you want to know how many claim-free years you have in Roy Data? Then you can submit a request for inspection via the EPS website. You can do this by filling in the right of inspection form. Fill it in online and send it digitally together with a copy of your proof of identity. Keep in mind that it can sometimes take a while before you are granted access. It often takes up to 28 days.

Request claim-free years from your insurer

It is important to note that claim-free years are not included in Roy Data until the insurance with which they were accrued has been terminated. Do you still have a car insurance policy? Then the claim-free years you have accrued during this period cannot yet be viewed online. If you want to know how many claim-free years you currently have, you can request this from your insurer or intermediary. In addition, your car insurer must let you know annually how many claim-free years you have. This can be found on the policy document that you receive annually from the insurer.

How many claim-free years will I lose after damage?

You lose claim-free years by claiming damages on your car insurance policy. One claim will cost you five claim-free years. Because of fewer claim-free years, the premium in the following insurance year can rise sharply. Not all damage claims result in the loss of accrued years. Damages that are insured in the WA limited casco are not at the expense of the claim-free years. These include, for example, windshield damage, storm and hail damage and theft of the car. In case of damage caused by a collision or vandalism, the claim on the insurance will be at the expense of your claim-free years.

Claim-free years transferable since 1-1-2022

Since Jan. 1, 2022, claim-free years are transferable in some situations. Upon death, for example, they can be transferred to the surviving partner. Also for lease drivers and drivers who have lived abroad for years, it is now possible to transfer claim-free years. This way they do not lose their accumulated claim-free years.
