Can I view my claim-free years online?
Do you have a car insurance policy in your name? Then you are accruing claim-free years. Claim-free years are years in which you do not claim any damage with your car insurer. The more claim-free years you have, the higher you are on the bonus malus ladder and the more premium discount you get. When taking out car insurance, you will be asked for your claim-free years. This is also necessary to calculate a good indication of the premium. Are you not sure how many claim-free years you have? Then you can ask your insurer. You can also view your claim-free years online. On Alpina.nl we explain how to do that.
Can you view roy-data claim-free years?
Your claim-free years are recorded in Roy Data. Roy Data is the central database of the EPS Foundation (Efficient Processes Claims Insurers). You used to have to prove your claim-free years with a statement of cancellation. However, since September 1, 2007, insurers have been working with a digital system: Roy Data. When you terminate your car insurance, the insurer puts your accrued claim-free years in Roy Data. When you take out a new car insurance policy, the new insurer consults Roy Data. They then claim the claim-free years and add them to your new policy. Active claim-free years tied up in a current car insurance policy cannot be used and are therefore not yet in Roy Data. All insurers have access to Roy-data. You can also view your claim-free years yourself in Roy Data.
How does viewing claim-free years online work?
To view your claim-free years online, you must submit a request via the EPS website. You can do this by completing the right of inspection form. You can submit the completed inspection form digitally together with a copy of your proof of identity. Please note that it may take some time before you receive your claim-free years. In most cases this takes up to 28 days. In addition, your insurer must inform you annually how many claim-free years you have. Your claim-free years are therefore also stated each year on your policy schedule.
How long can I view my claim-free years online?
Unfortunately, claim-free years are not valid indefinitely. After the termination of your car insurance, claim-free years are valid for 3 years with most insurers. This differs per insurer. With some insurers, claim-free years are only valid for 2 years, and with some insurers 4 or even 5 years. Therefore, always check when taking out your car insurance how long claim-free years are valid with your insurer. So you know how long you can view your claim-free years online in the Roy data register.
Claim-free years transferable since 1-1-2022
Since Jan. 1, 2022, claim-free years are transferable in some situations. Upon death, for example, they can be transferred to the surviving partner. Also for lease drivers and drivers who have lived abroad for years, it is now possible to transfer claim-free years. This way they do not lose their accumulated claim-free years.
