The last license plate we display on our website is retrieved from the RDW database every day. At the end of each working day, the RDW publishes the last issued registration number for passenger cars, which we display on our site. So you always see the last known license plate combination here.

New license plate combination issued by RDW

Since March 2013, a new license plate combination has been issued by the RDW. The combination looks as follows:

digit - three letters - two digits.

The license plate issued on March 5, 2013, was 1-KBB-00. The first new license plate was given to a charity. The Save the Children Foundation received a free car from a sponsor with the newest license plate on it.

According to the RDW, this new license plate combination will last about two years. Normally a license plate combination lasts longer but it is shorter now because many initial letters are already occupied by export plates and mopeds. The initial letters the RDW will use for this license plate combination are: K, S, T, X and Z.

Political party abbreviations, swear words, slang and other abbreviations that are not acceptable will not be used. Some examples are: NSB, PSV, GVD, TBS and SS. Also, the new three-letter combination will not include a vowel and letter Y.
