How do I gain access to Roy Data?
If you do not claim car damage with your insurer, you build up claim-free years. Each year that you do not claim any damage, ensures that you climb 1 step on the bonus malus ladder. The higher you are on the bonus malus ladder, the more premium discount you get and the cheaper your car insurance becomes! These claim-free years are recorded by the insurer. They do this in Roy Data. Every insurer has access to Roy Data, but you as a policyholder can also request access to your Roy Data data. In this article we explain how to do that.
What exactly is Roy Data?
You used to receive a termination notice from the insurer after terminating an insurance policy. This contained your accrued claim-free years. When taking out a new car insurance policy, you could use the cancellation statement to prove your claim-free years. Since September 1, 2007, insurers have switched to a central digital database: Roy Data. Roy Data is managed by the EPS Foundation (Efficient Processes Claims Insurers). When you terminate your car insurance, the insurer puts your accrued claim-free years in Roy Data. When you take out a new car insurance policy, the new insurer consults Roy Data. That way they know how many claim-free years you have, allowing them to award the correct premium discount.
Online access to Roy Data
You can request access to your Roy Data data online via the EPS Foundation website. Keep in mind that the data is not always current. Damage-free years are only entered into Roy Data after your car insurance has ended. If you still have a car insurance policy, the claim-free years you have accumulated during that period are not yet registered. Damage-free years built up while your car insurance is still running can be requested from your insurer. They will also list these annually on the policy schedule.
You can get access to your Roy Data registration by filling out the inspection right form. You only need to fill in some personal data and attach a copy of your ID. Keep in mind that it may take some time before you get access. Generally, it takes up to 28 days.
My information is not correct. What should I do?
Does it turn out after inspection that your Roy Data data is not correct? Then you can contact the insurer that registered the claim-free years. The insurer can then adjust the incorrect claim-free years. There is no point in contacting Stichting EPS for this. EPS cannot and may not adjust any claim-free years. You should therefore always report incorrect data to the insurer in question.
