What Is Covered

Employer’s liability insurance covers you for injuries sustained by employees due to a workplace accident or occupational disease. This also includes work-related traffic accidents while walking or cycling. Please note: If the accident involves a motor vehicle for which insurance is mandatory and in which the employee was the driver or a passenger, this is not covered. With retroactive coverage, you are also insured for liability arising from damage caused by acts or omissions that occurred before the policy’s effective date but were not discovered until later.

Customized Insurance by Profession

Professional Liability Insurance for Accountants

As an accountant, you always want to provide sound advice. Still, things can go wrong. For example, if a client suffers a loss and holds you liable. Or if documents are filed too late. In situations like these, professional liability insurance can help. With professional liability insurance, you’re protected against claims and won’t have to face them alone when the time comes.

Professional Liability Insurance for Attorneys

Professional liability insurance for attorneys covers various professional risks. You are insured against damages to clients resulting from negligence, errors, omissions, or carelessness. In short: protection against the risks you may encounter as an attorney.

Professional Liability Insurance for Physical Therapists

As a physical therapist, you bear a great deal of responsibility. You help clients recover from injuries and other conditions, but an incorrect diagnosis or treatment can result in both physical and financial harm. In such cases, you may be held liable. With professional liability insurance, you’re protected against high, unexpected costs, whether you’re self-employed or run a practice.

Professional Liability Insurance in the Healthcare Sector

As a healthcare provider, your main goal is to provide quality care, but mistakes or conflicts can never be completely avoided. An incorrect diagnosis, treatment, or recommendation can lead to large malpractice claims or legal problems. With professional liability insurance, you’re protected against these risks, so you can work with confidence and focus entirely on your clients.

Who is this for?

This insurance is especially important for self-employed healthcare professionals, who are often care providers that visit clients at home. Examples include general practitioners, physical therapists, postpartum care providers, and community nurses. Insurers tailor the coverage to the risks associated with your profession. For example, a general practitioner bears more ultimate responsibility than a community nurse.

What is covered?

The insurance covers both non-financial damages (such as damages resulting from a misdiagnosis) and financial damages, such as those resulting from unnecessarily expensive treatment. Damages may be caused by you or by your employees.

Why take out a policy?

  • Often required by clients such as hospitals or home care organizations
  • Requirements for Membership in Professional Associations
  • Terms and conditions usually do not provide sufficient protection
  • Protects your assets against professional errors

Are you a salaried employee?

If you work in the healthcare sector but are not a business owner, you do not need to purchase professional liability insurance yourself. Your employer is responsible for this.

Professional Liability Insurance for Dentists

As a dentist, you often perform complex procedures where mistakes can never be completely ruled out. If something goes wrong during a diagnosis or treatment, the damages can be significant, and a patient may hold you liable. With professional liability insurance, you’re protected against mistakes made by you or your employees, you can avoid unexpected costs, and you can focus entirely on your practice.

Professional Liability Insurance for Psychologists

As a psychologist, you work diligently to support your clients’ mental health, but mistakes can never be completely ruled out. An incorrect diagnosis or assessment by you or your staff can lead to substantial claims for damages and liability. With professional liability insurance, you’re protected against these costs and can continue to grow your practice with greater confidence and less risk, with coverage tailored to the professional risks faced by psychologists.

Professional Liability Insurance for Architects

When designing a house, things can always go wrong. An error in a calculation or design can lead to high costs or even structural problems. If a client holds you liable for this, the claims for damages can add up significantly. With professional liability insurance for architects, you’re covered against these types of risks and unexpected costs, allowing you to work on your projects with greater certainty and confidence.

Professional Liability Insurance for IT Professionals

If you work in the IT sector, you know that even a small mistake made by you or your employees in software or hardware can have major consequences. A single line of incorrect code or a system failure can bring business processes to a standstill and lead to substantial damage claims from clients. With professional liability insurance for the IT sector, you’re protected against these risks and can do your job with greater peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions About Professional Liability Insurance

What is professional liability insurance?

As a business owner, you may face issues related to professional liability. But what exactly is it?

You run your own business, and things are going well. There’s plenty of work, and you’re able to set some money aside for savings. But what if you’re held liable for financial damages? In this case, even a small mistake can have major consequences. A liability claim can end up costing you a lot.

In short, this concerns the liability arising from errors made by self-employed individuals or businesses in the course of their independent professional activities. Professional liability can therefore arise from a variety of circumstances, such as negligence, misjudgments, incorrect advice, omissions, etc. The resulting damages can therefore be recovered from you as a business owner.

When determining professional liability, the standards of the professional group are often taken into account. In other words: Would another professional with the same knowledge and experience have acted in the same way, taking into account the requirements of good professional practice?
