All about the Zzp Insurance Package
The Zzp Insurance Package, also known as the Chameleon Package, has been developed especially for ZZPs. With this package you insure your company against the most important risks within the industry in which you work.
As a self-employed person, it is important that you can do what you are good at without worrying about the risks involved in the work
What exactly does the insurance package include?
The Zzp insurance package consists of several insurances. By default, business liability and professional liability are co-insured. In addition, you can put the package together yourself. For example, you can include directors' liability insurance. This insurance protects the private assets of directors, supervisory directors and supervisors against the risk that they will be held personally liable for pure financial loss due to errors, omissions or negligence in the performance of their duties. You can also choose to include legal expenses insurance, so that you are insured in the event of a conflict with, for example, a supplier or debtor.
Why take out a Zzp insurance package?
It is not mandatory for a self-employed person to have insurance, but it can be wise. When starting a business, you have to be very mindful of costs. Taking out insurance is usually put off in the process. Nevertheless, good insurance as a self-employed person is very important. You run daily risks that are sometimes incalculable. The annoying thing is that you only find out when it is already too late. If you take out a self-employed insurance package, you can be sure that you are well insured. Moreover, your private insurance policies do not cover your business activities as a self-employed person.
What does a Zzp insurance package cover?
The Zzp insurance package you put together yourself consists of various insurances. Often the basis is liability insurance for the zzp-er. For many insurances, there are also various additions possible. For each insurance, there are a number of things that are and are not covered. This can be read in the policy conditions of the insurer.
What does a Zzp insurance package cost?
What a Zzp insurance package costs depends on the insurance policies you take out and the amount insured. When calculating the premium, you enter your industry and profession. Then you fill in a number of questions about the activities per insurance. Then you choose the amount insured per claim. You select the insurance you want to take out and then you get an indication of the premium. You can choose whether you want to pay the insurance premium monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually. If you choose a yearly payment term, you often get a discount on the premium.
Who is a Zzp insurance package for?
The Zzp Insurance Package is designed for self-employed people in different industries, with different professions.
The occupations are divided into 3 groups:
- Zzp'ers with consulting professions (including accountant, (interior) architect and graphic designer)
- Independent contractors working with tools (including landscapers, plumbers and painters)
- Self-employed people working in the external care field (including beautician, home hairdresser and make-up artist)

Mandatory insurance for self-employed workers
As a self-employed person, you no longer benefit from protection by your employer. After all, you are your own boss and bear the responsibility yourself. Therefore, the government has determined that a number of insurances are mandatory if you want to work as a self-employed person.
The following insurances are compulsory:
- Corporate Liability Insurance: this insurance covers the financial consequences if you are held liable for damage to third parties.
- Self-employed Persons Disability Insurance: insurance that provides a monthly payment if you become disabled.
- Fire insurance: insures fire damage to movable and immovable property.
So the above insurances are the ones you should definitely take out as a self-employed person. Want to know more or get custom advice without obligation? Contact our insurance advisors, they will be happy to tell you more!
