Clearance certificate

When you have sold your vehicle, you should be in possession of a release certificate. Have you not received this yet? Then you are legally still the owner of the vehicle and still have the insurance obligation and cannot yet terminate the insurance. Lost indemnification certificate If you do not have a release certificate, it is possible to request a printout from the RDW. This can also be done online with your DigiD. No safeguard certificate required

NB: In principle, we do not need a certificate of release or suspension for the termination of your insurance. Should we still receive this request from the insurer, we will request it separately from you, so we do request that you keep the indemnification/suspension certificate in your records.

License plate suspended at RDW

When your vehicle is suspended at the RDW, you temporarily have no insurance obligation. When the period of suspension at the RDW expires, you will immediately have an insurance obligation again. You must let us know immediately so that we can reactivate your suspended insurance. Note: If your insurer has no option to suspend your policy, we will have it terminated.

Theft of the vehicle

Should your vehicle be recovered, you will have insurance obligations reinstated immediately. Suspended insurance is easier to activate than applying for new insurance. Temporarily stopping an insurance policy is called suspending it.

Termination in accordance with statutory cooling-off period

You may cancel the insurance within 14 days, after receipt of the first policy, without giving any reason. The insurance will be cancelled retroactively and there will have been no coverage on the policy. Any damages and/or fines from the RDW during this period will be at your own expense. Have you already received your policy more than 14 days ago? Then you can no longer cancel the policy, press 'previous' to choose another reason for cancellation.

Per end date of contract

Your policy will terminate as of the contract expiration date. The contract expiration date is shown on your policy schedule.

Intermediate termination

If your policy is longer than 1 year, many insurers allow you to cancel the policy with 1 month's notice.
