Clearance certificate

When you have sold your vehicle, you must be in possession of a certificate of clearance. Have you not received this yet? Then legally you are still the owner of the vehicle and you still have the insurance obligation and you cannot terminate the insurance yet. Lost certificate of indemnification If you do not have a release certificate, it is possible to request a printout from the RDW. You can do this online with your DigiD. NB: In principle, we do not require a certificate of release from custody or a suspension certificate to terminate your insurance. Should we receive this request from the insurer, we will request it from you separately, so we ask you to keep the release certificate/suspension certificate in your administration.

License plate suspended at RDW

When your vehicle is suspended by the RDW, you temporarily have no obligation to have insurance. When the RDW suspension period expires, you immediately have a renewed insurance obligation. You must let us know this immediately so that we can reactivate your suspended insurance. Note: If your insurer has no option for suspending your policy, we will have it terminated.

Theft of the vehicle

Should your vehicle be recovered, you will have an immediate insurance obligation again. Suspended insurance is easier to activate than applying for new insurance. The temporary suspension of an insurance policy is called suspension.

Termination in accordance with statutory cooling-off period

You can cancel the insurance within 14 days, after receiving the first policy, without giving any reason, at no charge. The insurance will be cancelled retroactively and there will have been no coverage on the policy. Any damages and/or fines from the RDW during this period will be at your own expense. Have you already received your policy more than 14 days ago? Then you can no longer cancel the policy, press 'previous' to choose another reason for cancellation.

By end of contract

Your policy will be terminated on the contract expiry date. The contract expiry date is stated on your policy schedule.

Intermediate termination

If your policy is valid for more than one year, many insurers allow you to cancel the policy with one month's notice.
