Getting your green card insurance easily and quickly

Green card insurance is a 15-day third-party insurance, which you can apply for based on the license plate. After these 15 days, the coverage expires automatically. Please note; under the WA coverage, damage to third parties is insured, but damage to your own vehicle is not.

You can apply for this insurance quickly and easily online via our website and you can pay the premium via iDEAL, so that the international insurance certificate (the green card) will quickly be at your doorstep. If you would like to receive an e-mail with payment instructions, this is also possible, but please note that it will take longer for the green card to be sent.

Alpina issues the green card as soon as the premium is received. The green card is then immediately sent by e-mail and the next business day it is sent by mail. Once the green card insurance has taken effect (the effective date can be found on the green card) it can no longer be cancelled, however before that, i.e. before the effective date, it can still be cancelled if necessary.

Unfortunately, we cannot apply for an export licence plate for you.

We will send you the green card by e-mail and by post. We advise you not to drive the vehicle until you have received the green card by post. If this is not possible, you can print the green card that we sent by e-mail yourself. We recommend that you do this on 'green card paper' (available from bookshops) or other green paper.

With an insurance certificate on white paper, it is possible that foreign customs officials do not recognise this as an insurance certificate, because it is traditionally green. If this is the case, you can indicate that it is an internationally recognised proof of insurance and ask for another official who may be aware of the current laws and regulations. Make a note of the name of the officer(s) so that once you get home, you or your legal assistance insurer can start a recovery action against the foreign authorities in case they have obliged you to incur extra costs for insuring your vehicle.

With the 15-day temporary insurance, you have coverage in Europe.

Alpina issues a green card with the 15-day temporary car insurance policy. After those 15 days, coverage automatically expires. Note! The insurance does not cover damage to your own vehicle.

It is possible to take out temporary car insurance directly online. After receipt of the payment, you will receive the insurance certificate by e-mail. We do not accept cash payments.

You can pay the premium directly via ideal.

The temporary insurance is not only for passenger cars but also for vans, trucks and motorhomes.

The insurance policy can be cancelled up to the effective date of the cover provided that this is on a working day and before 17:00. When the policyholder has or has already had coverage, this green card can no longer be cancelled by means of the cancellation right.
