For most insurance companies, a car is a vintage car if it is older than 20 years. In addition, the vintage car must be used as a hobby and it must be your second vehicle. Only then will the company want to insure the vehicle on a vintage car insurance policy.

For road tax purposes, a car is only an oldtimer when it is older than 25 years. In that case, you do not have to pay road tax for the oldtimer.
