Maximum trailer speed in the Netherlands
The maximum speed of a trailer in the Netherlands is 90 kilometers per hour on highways if the weight of the trailer remains under 3500 kg. Is the weight of the trailer higher than 3500 kg? Then the maximum speed is 80 kilometers per hour. For your own safety and the safety of your road users, it is important that you properly observe the speed limit. When you drive with a trailer, you will also drive differently than when you just drive in your car. For example, with a trailer, you are more susceptible to wind gusts that can cause the trailer to sway. Similarly, if you drive too fast, a trailer can start to sway, which can be very dangerous. Driving the speed limit makes your trailer much less likely to sway.
